Don’t expect your U Haul reservation to be honored U Haul

I placed a reservation for a one-way rental several months ago. I was told that someone would call me by 5 PM the day prior to my pick-up date. No one called me. I had a previous bad experience with U-Haul, so I called 800-GO-UHAUL around 2 PM that day to re-confirm (I called earlier in the week too), and was given another number to call, of the office that was handling my reservation. I spent well over an hour on hold, after being hung up on twice. After I finally got through to someone I was told that there was no truck for me, despite my “confirmed reservation”.

U Haul? Try U Beg, U Plead, U Giveup U Haul

My partner and I were moving about 35 miles down the road to be closer to work and to the city life. We had planned everything well in advance. We even had our entire house boxed up and ready to go a week in advance!

Then the big day came. We decided to move on a Thursday night/Friday to avoid the weekend rushes. About two weeks before we move, I call up U-Haul and reserve a truck. A 24′ AUTOMATIC which they assure me will be ready for me to pickup at 5:30pm on Thursday evening.

If you want to get ripped off… Go U Haul!!! U Haul

Today (10/08/05)I rented this U-Haul Truck with Mileage Reading at 220847.3 from Old Bridge. My home is 3 miles (maximum!!!) from there. I had to pick up a dining table from my relatives, on the way-home which is exactly on the same route to my home. It might have added up at the most 1 more mile to this. Now after unloading my dining table, I went back to U-haul and asked the Customer Service to check if everything is ok. The girl came back from truck and told me its 37 Miles…Ending Miles 220883. Isn’t it too much!!! Also, I returned the truck within 2 hours. I checked it myself that it is just 5 miles one way… But she did not believe.. and I ended up paying for 37 miles (i.e. 37 x $ 2.49) After i left from there these guys were making fun of me and i could see that bcoz i had left my umbrella in their office and looking at me they were embaressed. BE CAREFUL with U-Haul… If you want to get ripped off.. Go U-Haul!!!

I Was Afraid With U haul, The Actual Experience Was Great! U Haul

I have read so many bad reviews about U-haul and it had been years since I had rented one. We have been making a move for the last two weeks and needed a truck for two days the only local trucks available were U-Haul.

I went to the local dealer and was going to reserve the truck but they don’t reserve for local service so I had to wait until the day I wanted the truck to go there again.

Moving Made Easy, if You Can Get Past the Counter U Haul

I recently had to use a local U-haul place to rent a truck for a cross town move. Prior to this move I had never had to use a , I had always been able to get a few buddies together with SUVs or pick up trucks and we’d make 2-3 trips and move everything. This time though, I had to take my stuff 30 miles across town and in Atlanta, I didn’t really feel like fighting traffic more than once on moving day.

Was reliable and worked well. U Haul

Well, we went for a move of 780 miles and the move went without a problem. The reservation and the confirmation of it went just fine. We were happy with the overall experience. Will use again when the need is. It was a 17 foot gas truck which was reliable and pulled my car on an auto transport just fine.

Insult Added to Injury U Haul

U-Haul dropped the ball, and I’m still trying to settle-in almost 2 months after my move date. Please read on, and heed the warning of this horrific experience and tale of massive incompetence.

I recently moved about 15 miles and about 4 days before my move date I made a reservation with U-Haul for a 14-foot truck. I chose U-Haul because I had used them years before and it was all simple enough then, as I thought it would be with this move. I’m single and an apartment dweller, so my belongings were limited to boxes, a bed, a table and a dresser. Simple, right? Not when I arrived at 10 AM on Sunday to pick up my truck.

U Haul = U Are On U’re Own, “Buddy” U Haul

A horrid nightmare of dangerous equipment and deplorable customer service from start to finish!

I reserved a via U-Haul’s online reservation service at a certain price. The day before my “reserved” rental, I waited fruitlessly for U-Haul to contact me to confirm my reservation. The evening before moving day, I went online and reserved ANOTHER truck with the foolish notion that this would somehow increase my chances of obtaining a truck on moving day. Wrong.

Horror Story … even mechanics knew it was not safe to drive U Haul

THIS IS A “BRIEF”!

The truck that was rented to us broke down (major) 3 times (minor )1 time … we were exposed to very dangerous situations - health and traffic.

Even after asking each “repair representative” to check over the truck, we were still sent on the road with a dangerous vehicle and were lucky to make it into Dartmouth with our health intact.

Our saga …

Over charged Credit Card U Haul

I recently rented a Uhaul from the store on Veterans Memorial in Houston Texas to move from one apartment to another within the same complex. I rented the $19.95 truck for one day. I picked the truck up at 6:14 on Saturday evening and asked the guy what time I had to have the truck back on Sunday in order to not be charged an extra day. He said by 9:00 p.m. I asked what if I turned it in Monday morning, and he said that I would be charged if I turned it it then, to try and have it back by 9:00 on Sunday. I turned the truck in at 7:15 Sunday night, using about 11 miles total for the move–most of which were used driving the truck from the store to my apartment. To my dismay, they charged $56.42 to my credit card. When I called, the owner, a backwoods country hick, answered and informed me that I was charged for 2 days. I explained to her that her employee had told me that if I had the truck back by 9:00 on Sunday I would only be charged for one day. She said she believed me, but she was not going to do anything about it. She did suggest that I call back the next day when Jared, the guy who rented me the truck, was working and talk to him about it. I said, “since you’re the owner, why would he be able to do something about it and you can’t?” She said that he could offer to pay for my extra day out of his pocket. I told her that her and I both know that he was not going to do that and it was her responsibility to take care of this, otherwise it’s bad business. She responded–and I quote, “Well, that’s not how we do business at Uhaul.” I wanted to scream! Instead, I called my bank and disputed the charges, and was reimbursed for the extra day. The moral of the story is don’t rent from Uhaul because they are crooked small business owners, and if you do end up getting scammed by them, simply dispute the charges and avoid dealing with them because they won’t help you anyway.
