What course of action can Uhaul take against you if they claim that you owe them money? If Uhaul claims that you owe them money, and you disagree, what can they do ... besides "send it to collections"? Can they call the police...

One thier website here http://www.uhaul.com/roofpouch/ it says you can rent them. But, when you call the roof pouch “LOCATION” they only have them for sale. I personally called 3 locations in my area. Also, when I called the regional offices for my UHAUL region. They tell you that you can only purchase them. On UHAUL’s website. It even shows where they can be found. But, NO rentals. I would like to find out what areas of the country they can be rented? Uhaul Customer Service tells you to call the store itself. please post.

UHAUL is the biggest bad business in America (in my opinion). I tried to rent the roof pouch, and ended up with the same problem you’re having. One location here in S. FLA. said they had one, so I made my reserbation through them. I arrived about 2 hours later to pick it up…and guess what…no roof pouch. But, as you said, they did have them for sale.
I also ran into another problem with UHAUL. I own a Ford Explorer and wanted a tow hitch installed on my vehicle. I went to their hitch and rental location and asked about a hitch. The guy told me the total cost would be $260. I told them to go ahead and install it. After they were done, I looked at the job and had these problems: 1. Hitch had no wiring ( and I had paid for it)…they fixed that, although it took them 2 hours to wire it ?!? 2. After installing the hitch, I inquired about a trailer for it. The UHAUL guy proceeds to tell me that they don’t rent trailers for people who have Ford Explorers. I asked why and he said he didn’t know. I then called their main office and was told the same thing with the same answer…”I don’t know why we don’t”. Why don’t you tell me this before I pay for the hitch ?!? 3. The hitch was not mounted tightly. When I got home, I felt the bolts and nut, and was quite surprised when I found I could turn a nut with my fingers. I got back in my car and demanded they give me my money back. They said no refunds on hitches…so I stopped payment on my credit card. I called the main office again and they said the same thing…I was pissed off. After several calls and letters to Better Business Bureau and many calls to their office, they agreed to take the the hitch off and offered me a 5% discount the next time I rent from them…what a joke 
Oh, and when I looked online for a moving truck…UHAUL wanted $783.89 for a one way 14′ truck rental. I ended up renting a truck from Budget…a 24′ truck, one way, more mileage, 2 hand carts and an appliance dolly for $430. Big difference.
