The Uhaul we used to move from Ohio to Indiana broke down 15 miles into the trip. The clutch went completly out on I-75 and it would not move any further. This unfortunatly took place on Memorial day weekend and it was a 45 minute process to reach a human at UHaul customer service to have help sent. They sent a mechanic who verified that I knew what I was talking about and that the clutch actually not working. Then 30 minutes later a tow truck showed up to tow the truck to Dayton Ohio.
They refused to tow the truck to the destination and instead insisted that it be reloaded onto another truck. I was promised that they had professionals to do this and I would not have to lift a finger. Not only did they take the better part of the afternoon to load, but it resulted in the destroying and damaging of several (8) items in the process. They must not have liked having to come in and work on a holiday weekend because they loaded four heavy boxes of books onto a changing table designed to hold a baby or child up to 40 pounds. It took me over four weeks to get them to pay for the damage they caused and they would not refund the truck rental.

I don’t know what kind of mechanics they have working on those pieces of junk, but they obviously care more about renting out the trucks than if the trucks actually make it to the destinations. One would think that the mechanics that work on them for a living would notice if the clutch did not feel normal to them during the trucks regular service interval (if it was actually serviced at all).
