Here is a copy of my complaint sent to U-Haul. I have yet to hear a response.
I made over a 1,000 mile trip and was given a truck that:
Would be 12 miles to the gallon and it was more like 5.
Was running on 7 cylinders
Kept running hot
Broken passenger side window
Leaking cab and half my things inside got wet
Had bad power steering
But, worst of all, left me broke down for an entire DAY with a broken diesel fuel line (which had been fixed NUMEROUS TIMES BEFORE according to the log books) which left me and my 5 year old daughter covered in diesel fuel. I have photos and it was logged by the men who came to repair the truck and switched my truck. The inside of the cab and floorboards poured unreal amounts of fuel onto us and into the cab.
I am researching attorneys in the area, as I was charged for my trip, which I find disgusting.
Calling customer service as my daughter and I sat in the middle of nowhere in North Carolina was interesting, too, as we were hung up on 2 times. It delayed us an entire day and as a result my daughter and I were stuck to stay at a gas station all day long.
At least I quit smoking so we didn’t blow up from the diesel fuel leak.
Some of my things are also reuined from water leaking inside the turck where all our stuff was.
