I am moving soon and my lease ends on Sept 30th while the place I am interested in isn’t available until Oct 1- the plan is to move my belongings into a uhaul and keep them their overnight- so I hope uhaul charges by the mile!

U-haul charges by the rental period, which could be 2 hrs or up to 24 hrs depending on the availability of a truck, you will have to check with the centre you are making your reservation with if you can get it for 24hrs, anything longer than 24 hrs is considered 2 rental periods. They also charge by the mile, it will be a higher rate for friday’s and saturdays. Make sure you double check the gas guage before you leave, if it is not where it says on your contract, have them change your contract before you leave. Ask about any other possible fees they could charge eg, late fees, clean truck, use of carts, blankets, etc. so you know what to expect.
