Don’t Even Think About It! U Haul

I reserved a truck on their website and was given a confirmation number and a location that was 3 miles from my home. Three days letter, the promised contact from the local office did not happen, so I called the 800 number on the confirmation and was informed that the truck was not 3 miles away but rather 25 miles away (ie: 50 miles away). Keep in mind that they charge 89 cents a mile. I asked for a refund of the $5 reservation fee and was told that it was not refundable. No way no how!

They think it’s fair that — having contracted a for a location 2 miles away — I should drive 50 miles at 89 cents a mile plus gas to pick up a truck….I asked for the name of the president of the company, I was given a ficticious name. I guess the real president (and I WILL find out who he is) gets a lot of complaints.

I’m waiting for my credit card bill, fully expecting that they will try to charge me for the FULL RENTAL because I cancelled! (That’s their stated policy.)

By the way, I guess I’m not the only one who feels screwed by Uhaul. When i did a search, I fouind web pages calling for a boycott of Uhaul (”Uhaul screwed me’) and class action suits. Steer clear!!!
