In a recent move in the Seattle area, I made a reservation through UHaul’s website. In that reservation, I reserved a 17′ truck, 2 dollies and 1 furniture dolly. The local (Kirkland) UHaul office called me to confirm that the reservation was made, and I asked specifically if they had the dollies I requested. I was promised by Ron, the General Manager of that store that yes, they would be there. When I arrived on the morning of the move, Dale, the “manager” on duty informed he could only give me on utility dolly. When I indicated that I specifically requested two dollies and one furniture dolly, and was assured I would get them, Dale told me that they would never have promised them - basically calling me a liar. He said they could give me three huge refridgerator dollies (they had a fleet of at least 30 of them), but they are huge, clunky, and are made for moving stoves and refridgerators, not boxes or pianos. I was out of luck. None of the other stores in the area had any either. I had to take an hour of my time to go to my office and borrow two hand carts.
I have never had a good experience with UHaul, having used them once before in the Chicago area, with terrible service there as well. I will not use them again. Ever. They were unapologetic about failing to live up to the promises they made, their trucks are routinely filthy. They seem to just not care about providing quality goods or services.
