Its definately YOU Haul U Haul
U Need to stay AWAY from certain trucks when U HAUL your stuff! U Haul I had the interesting experience of moving some funiture for my Sister from Atlanta to Chicagoland (Joilet). We had a great old bedroom suit...
UHaul made my move a miserable and stressful experience UHaul made my move a miserable and stressful experience. I made a reservation on the web a week and a half before I had to move some furnit...
I’ve only rented moving trucks a few times, a couple with U-Haul and one with another company. Let me just say that the one time we went with a different company was the easiest move I have ever made!
Both of the times that we rented with U-Haul there were no trucks available on the day we had made reservations to pick it up. We had to wait an extra day to get one. And even then it wasn’t the truck we had requested. We needed a fairly large truck since some of my family was moving from Minnesota to Texas with 2 kids (and you know how much stuff that means!!), but instead we got a small truck that just barely fit the important stuff. Some of their stuff had to be left behind for another time when they can come and visit and take it back with them.
That same move, we looked at the truck that we had finally gotten and saw that the tabs on the license plate had expired the month before. So my sister-in-law tried calling the office we had rented the truck from, but they were closed for the rest of the weekend. So she called the customer service number on her receipt and was put on hold for fifteen minutes. When she finally did get to talk to a human he quickly told her that he didn’t know what he could do for her and hung up on her. She called back and was put on hold for twenty minutes and then talked to another person who told her that she would have to talk to the guy that she had rented the truck from. Now, let me just say, that although I wasn’t the one dealing with the problem, I can only imagine how frustrating that can be. So this issue never got dealt with and luckily they didn’t get pulled over anywhere between Minnesota and Texas.
The third problem that came up on this trip was that when my brother tried to return the truck at the offices in Texas they told him that they couldn’t accept it, that he had to return it in Minnesota (this was not part of the deal, my brother was paying extra to leave it at his destination). After about an hour of arguing with the guy and a couple of phone calls to a still closed office in Minnesota they guy agreed to take the truck.
Now after all of those problems, when my sister was moving into a new house not too long ago, she rented a small truck from another company (and I have to admit I don’t remember which one now, though it was just a local company in Minneapolis). They had the truck sitting out front so that when she picked it up all she had to do was sign the papers and hop in the truck and drive it away. There was only one problem with the truck, my sister found that it was leaking oil after she moved it on our driveway and there was a huge oil spot. When she took the truck back she told the people they might want to fix that, and they gave her a discount of 50% for giving her a faulty truck. Now I think that is something that all companies should be doing.
So after all the problems I saw, when I was moving from one apartment to another I rented a pickup truck from Budget car rentals and moved the stuff manually in about four trips (its a good thing I wasn’t moving too far away) and didn’t have to deal with all of the problems with other moving companies. Before you rent a truck make sure you do some research and know what you are getting into.
