is poor excuse for a company. Their entire system is based on taking advantage of the customer … they know you need a truck for a specific day, so they figure they have you by the short and curlies. And the entire customer disservice system is designed to frustrate you until you give up. Ask for a manager, you get put on hold for 10 minutes, then another customer disservice rep picks up and says “hold on,” then you wait another 10 minutes. I refused to give up, and I annoyed them no end for asking the simple question, “When can I pick up my truck.” Some indignant fool who claimed to be a manager said, “We can’t guarantee that.” What? Imagine if you flew into another city with a Hertz reservation and they said, “Maybe we’ll have a car and maybe we won’t so shut up and wait.” That’s U-Haul’s attitude. I guess they figure if they hire only morons you’ll get so exasperated that you’ll take any piece-of-crap truck at whatever time they deign to give it to you just to avoid the aggravation.
After being jerked around by U-Haul for 3 days, I finally called Ryder a night before my move. I thought it was a long shot. It wasn’t. A very helpful manager said, “Be here at 8 o’clock and I’ll get you a truck.” And he did.
I can’t believe there’s a company in America that gets an 81% negative rating on a website and doesn’t care. Or maybe they haven’t heard of the Internet yet. Morons!
