It was very easy and exciting to do the on line reservation. But, I just couldn’t stand the uncertainty of the online reservation that I did. Until the previous day afternoon nobody from U-Haul could give me information on “WHEN” and “from where” I was going to pick up my truck and “how far” this was going to be. True , you have to accept that during the reservation by making a tick mark in one of the columns. Still, I wanted to find out and called their 800 number… After spending a lot of minutes on the phone, I got the standard reply( I understood that, that was a standard statement during the calls I made) that somebody will contact me the previous day by 5pm.
Well, I decided to cancel my order and look somewhere else where it was more certain. Now, how will you do that? You can make the reservation on line but you can’t cancel it online. And they have made it more difficult by stating that we need to call their 800 number customer service. Well, I called and the first guy lifted the phone and after asking my reservation number, read his standard statement and hang up! Without even asking why I called! The next call saw some fruit( I thought so) the person at the other end told me that he will send an email to the concered to cancel my reservation. And then in the evening there comes a call from one of the local U-Haul center stating that I will be picking up the truck from them! Then what did the customer service told me? I called them again, and he says that my reservation is still active. I made another request for cancellation. And to make sure I contacted them through their web site and someone wrote and email to me too acknowledging that they will take care of my reservation cancelation. And I thought that’s it, it will be done now. And I did reservation thru another rental company with much easier and friendly customer service.
But on the day of the move in the after noon someone from the local U-Haul calls me and asks me ” Sir, aren’t you coming to pick up your trck? ” I described all that I did to cancell my rservation. But even then, they charged me $50 for no-show!
