Never use U Haul U Haul

I rented four trucks from U-Haul for a cross country move in June and July 2004. I saw dozens of U-Haul trucks stranded in remote deserts as I crossed the country, and on one trip, I was one of them….stranded four times, lengthing my trip by three days. Contract repair people for U-Haul admitted to me that U-Haul does next to nothing when the trucks are returned. Maybe fluid levels are adjusted. I was told that more than 75% of the repair problems would never occur if U-Haul had an adequate maintenance program. Since the federal government has heard from hundreds of complainants and still does nothing against U-Haul, you get the general idea. After the starter in one truck was changed out 3 times, I was forced to leave the truck running at all times. One of the metal ramps flew out and dislodged from the truck (the stopper was stuck), landing on me, ripping four muscles from my back. No warning signs on the trucks letting you know that the ramps are slippery as ice in rain. The inside of the trucks are filthy beyond belief, and the floor of the trucks get so hot, you can cook oatmeal. You certainly cannot keep your feet or anything else on the floor. When you complain or require help, the U-Haul customer service and other staff treat you like “shit”. I was able to finally get through to customer service during one stranding, and the idiot U-Haul hired logged the call but did nothing else, losing me another three hours.

So, If you have nothing else to do, and you have low self esteem and enjoy being abused, and your time is worth nothing, and you don’t care if your stuff gets wet or might be ruined by delays, then definitely rent from U-Haul.
