U haul has a policy that if you have a ‘confirmed’ reservation, that does not mean you will have a truck on the day you reserved it - even if there is one on the lot! It is corporate policy (1-800-322-7374) that one-way reservations take priority over local moves. The day I was supposed to pick up my confirmed truck rental, it was given to someone who made a one-way reservation the day before! Of course, no one called to inform me. I live in a small Nevada town, and it was the only truck. Now . . WHY would they do that?? PROFIT. They make more money on one-way rentals, so even though I had my ‘reservation’ for a week it meant absolutely nothing. The local carrier said “Oh well, that’s U-haul policy” and corporate confirmed it stating that they might be able to get a truck in the next day or two - but could not guarantee it!! We are to vacate the house today . . . Not sure how yet - my wife has been on the phone for hours and we are still searching for a soloution. One thing for certain, U-haul will not be involved in the solution. This is one corporate policy that I am sure will be the downfall of greedy U-Haul - I know I will never trust them again.
