We are a military family and decided to move ourselves from Texas to Colorado and decided that UHAUL sounded like a good place to use since you see their trucks everywhere.
After this experience we’ve decided to never move ourselves again. I will admit that some of the reasons we won’t move ourselves again doesn’t have to do with UHAUL at all but most of them do.
In my opinion, they charge some really outrageous rates for their trucks. We got a truck and a trailer to haul our car with us. We didn’t even think about inspecting the truck before we left so when we got home we opened the back up and it was extremely dirty. You could tell that they didn’t even attempt to clean it. Also the full tank showed that it was just about on empty, I was surprised we got it home and then back to the place to show them how they left it. We had to go back and make them write on the ticket that it was dirty and how much gas it had in it so we wouldn’t get charged even more for that.
The one thing that was a plus is that they will either help you get your car on the towing thing or if you do it yourself then you can bring it back to them and they will inspect to make sure that it was hooked up right.
As far as long moves are concerned I wouldn’t recommend using them at all.
