Check the equipment before you leave U Haul

I rented a u-haul to drive from Myrtle Beach to NC. We loaded the truck all day and about 11:00 at night I was ready to take off. About 15 minutes into the trip I was told at a traffic light that the truck had no working lights in the rear or on the transport. Since I had turned in the keys to the rental property I could not go back there and did not know a sole in the state. I called u-haul and explained the situation to them and they said they would be there in two hours and I should lock the doors and sit on the side of the road. I once again explained to them that I was a female in a strange town driving a big u-haul in the middle of the night with no lights. I told them I would try and make it to Wal-Mart down the street and wait there. I waited the two hours and called back only to be told the repair guy was really busy and he should be there in 45 minutes. This went on all night and I finally saw the repair man around 8:00 the next morning. He took a part off his car to fix the truck with and said “Hopefully that will last you”. I told him the breaks on the truck felt funny and he said, “If you want to unload this truck, I can haul it in and work on the breaks, but if I was you I would try to make it”. I drove about two hours the next morning and was so tired from sitting in the Wal-Mart parking lot all night that I had to stop and get a motel room to rest in. All in all, U-haul does not care about you and will let you get killed in their trucks. When I called and talked to them about the incident at the home office they were like, Well, you made it and your not dead. They did give me $40 in vouchers in case I ever rent from them again. If you are moving, please check out the equipment before you leave the company. I paid almost $500 for this terrible experience!!

Reservation? What’s that? U Haul

Who doesn’t know U-Haul? They’re all over the streets, especially in college towns. My parents had two good moving experiences for them, so when it came time for my husband and me to change apartments, I called U-Haul.

I called the U-Haul 800 number, which I guess was my first mistake. I made the reservation over a month in advance because I knew that the weekend I was moving was a big one for moving all over town. I spoke with a reservation agent, whose name was Jeremy. Jeremy said that my reservation was GUARANTEED on the date (but not the time) I needed the truck, otherwise I would not have given Jeremy my credit card number to put down a deposit on the truck. About two weeks later, I received a letter from U-Haul stating my reservation number, further confirmation to me that I actually had a reservation with U-Haul. Ha, ha.

Horrible Customer Service!!! U Haul

I made a “reservation” over the telephone for a 17′ truck. My local U-Haul office did not have or would not have my desired truck oh-hand on my scheduled pick up day. However, they assured me another dealer, within a 45 mile radius, would call me the day before my move to inform me where to pick up my 17′ truck. I waited until 4PM the day before my move, and still no one from U-Haul contacted me. I called them, and they called me back 15 minutes later. With 45 minutes left in the business day, the day before my move, they inform me that they do not have my “reserved” 17′ truck in stock anywhere within a 45 mile radius. Apparently U-Haul does not understand what a “reservation” is. They could of at least had the common courtesy to call me earlier in the day to allow me to make a reservation with a competitor, so that I could move as scheduled. I spoke with a regular employee and a “supervisor” over the telephone. Neither one was any help at all. The only offered to give me a 24′ truck. Now, I did not “reserve” a 24′ truck. I reserved a 17′ truck. I am moving to a small apartment complex with a small parking lot full of cars. I can not manuever and unload a 24 foot truck in that small parking lot. The 24′ long truck was unacceptable. They also refused to send a driver to another location to pick up the proper size truck for me. This extreme lack of customer service and professionalism is completely unacceptable! (Erie, PA Area U-Haul)

Uhaul is a vulgar incompetent company U Haul

My father was always a do it yourself kind of guy, so when I was moving across town to my first house I took his advice and rented a Uhaul and moved myself. Never again will I rent a Uhaul or associate that name with anything but incompetence and truly rude people. As a matter of fact I sit here and wonder what someone like myself, (not rich, but an upper middle class professional with a bright future in the entertainment industry) could do to fight back against a huge established conglomerate that has lost any trace of decency. My first thought was a website, (looking like a good possibility) to go along with the other sites I’ve found already out there on the internet. One that was better than the rest, and wasn’t a link from a personal site. Disorganized

Want me to tell you about our recent move?? U Haul

We recently moved across the country from Washington State to Maine. We have moved quite a few times in our lives we have always used U-Haul though I don’t know why. We have not been real happy with them but they were easy to get to and have reasonable rates.

Well this trip across country was the straw that broke the camels back so to speak. I went ahead an make reservations online for our truck so that we could lock in a rate while they were pretty cheap. They don’t seem to be as expensive in the middle of the winter as they are in spring and summer.

U Haul Workers Attack Their Customers U Haul

I was living in New Britain, CT and moving back to Long Island, NY in mid January, 2001. I made a reservation for a truck to be available to me at 7:30 AM, and when I arrived at the U-Haul center in New Britain, CT, the representative behind the counter told me that they did not have my truck and that they could not help me. I told her that was unacceptable and that I needed a truck that morning because I was moving to another state. Erica Carrero (the psycho U-haul employee behind the counter) decided to ignore me instead of figuring out the problem, she looked over my head and asked to help the next customer in line. Not ready to take her attitude, I asked for her name and her supervisors name, but she ignored me again. At that point I was ready to take this matter over her head, and I walked out of the store extremely angry, without the truck I had reserved. I was going to call the corporate office to complain about her attitude, and she knew that as I was walking out the door. You won’t believe what happened next because I still can’t believe it. Erica Carrero walked out from behind the counter and followed me outside of the U-Haul center and started to attack me!!!!! She grabbed my hair and started punching me and pulling me down to the ground, for no reason!!!!! Thankfully I managed to get away from her after she was screaming at me and calling me names in Spanish. As she was beating me up she said “she didn’t care if she lost her job over this.” I could not believe this was happening to me. I did nothing to provoke her, she was insane.

UHAUL SUCKS! U Haul

The worst company I have ever dealt with in my entire life! That is what I can tell you about UHAUL. We had a truck reserved for Sat. 7/30/05, but they never called us to confirm our reservation on Sat morning. We tried to call the UHAUL help line repeatedly and were on hold for over 1 hour each time. But as soon as we could get a person on the line, they were rude. They couldn’t help us more than send a message to the local UHAUL center so that they could call us. WE NEVER GOT A CALL FROM THEM. Went through this for hours until 5pm that day. We even got hung up on by a very rude representative on the UHAUL line. We had a house full of furniture and boxes to move, but no truck to move it with. They finally told us that they would be calling us on Sat night to confirm a truck for Sunday. Guess what?? THEY NEVER CALLED! 7/31/05 Sunday morning, we started calling the UHAUL line at 7:00am to get a person on the line… Called repeatedly using two different phones and experienced hold times of over 90 minutes until we got a person. All they would tell us is that they would send a message to a supervisor to call us back… Guess what? THEY NEVER CALLED! Finally at 12:00pm we called a local PENSKE location we found in the yellow pages and luckily caught the person there at the store that was ready to close. He agreed to wait for us to get there so we could rent a truck from him. We got the last truck he had in stock and were finally able to move very late on Sunday afternoon. If I knew of PENSKE to begin with, I would have totally disregarded UHAUL.

All I can say is that dealing with UHAUL was a nightmare experience. They are absolutely the worst company in regards of customer service and do not even deserve to be in business. I hope they go bankrupt and every one of their locations catch fire and burn to the ground. U-HAUL I HATE YOU!

Choose another company U Haul

I had a very bad experience with U-Haul when trying to use them for a local move. Six weeks before I moved I used the online reservation form to hold a 15′ truck for moving day. They charged me $50 for the reservation, which was fine. When I got to the pick up office on moving day they said there was no truck available. I asked what the reservation fee was for if not to RESERVE a truck for me. The (very rude) man at the counter said it was for the right to be on the waiting list in case they happened to have a truck available. It didn’t guarantee they WOULD have have a truck available. He offered me a 24′ foot truck for the following day, but they would charge me for a 24′, not the 15′ I reserved. The larger truck was too tall to fit down my driveway so I turned it down. At that time he told me they would refund my $50 reservation fee. They didn’t. Later, when I called customer service I was told that because I was offered a reasonable alternative (a 24′ truck the day after my move day at the price of a 15′ truck) they would not refund me. I am very glad this was a local move and not a long distance one. I will NEVER use this company again.

Stay away! U Haul

It all started so beautifully…making a reservation online is very easy. You pick out the kind of truck you want, and they give you a pretty good idea of what will fit into the different size trucks. You fill in all the details on the date of the move, etc., and in no time, you have yourself a confirmed reservation. Which is followed up by an email and a telephone call confirmation, both of which let you know that they will call you by 5 PM on the day prior to your move to let you know what time to pick up the equipment.

U what? U Haul

I have been using U-Haul, as a facility and to move, help friends move, and to buy boxes from for about 5 years. There are some major ups and downs to this company.

The ups are that they are everywhere. The hours they keep are actually pretty good for me, in that I can go weekends, holidays, and evenings to get at my stuff in or to make a payment. They cut me a great rate on the truck when I rented the unit, I think it was a 20% discount. The stuff they have in store for is a bit pricey, but the boxes are good quality. You can get your tape elsewhere. I liked the staff, but that brings us to the downside.
