After shopping online for a one-way truck rental I chose UHaul because of their price and glitzy promises. BIG MISTAKE. I had reserved a truck over one week before my move thinking that their offices would have plenty of time to coordinate a proper pick-up. As per policy, I received a phone call the afternoon before I was to pick up my truck only to be told that no truck was available and that they will give me a call when one does become available. By closing time that same day I did not receive a call to tell me otherwise. After calling several times the next day (the day i was to move) I was volleyed between the local dispatcher’s office, the local customer service office, and the national customer service office whose only purpose of being is to punt exasperated customers back to square A (the local office) We at one point drove an hour and a half to a location only to be told that no truck was available and that no confirmation was obtained from the dispatcher’s office (the dispatcher continued to insist of availability while the pick-up site insisted otherwise) Several hours later we were told to go to another site that we knew to have no trucks (by this time we took the initiative to call sites on our own). Their dispatchers were ready to send us off on another goose chase! It was a day and a half of phone calls and scrambling that caused a day’s delay, much unexpected expenditures, and grief. I strongly suggest that UHaul be banned and their staff of monumental imbeciles be retrained for better use to human kind…test dummies, perhaps?
