I reserved a truck 3 months in advance. I called the day before to check up on it and was told that no truck would be available. I got a phone message a while later; when I called back, the representative Ashley told me that she used to have a truck an hour and half away but I called back too late and it was already gone. Somehow, she thought it was my responsibility to call her and drive an hour and a half to get a truck I reserved. In reality, it was just UHaul’s negligence. She informed me that UHaul makes no effort whatsoever to ensure that a truck will be available when it has been reserved, relying on luck only. When I pointed out that I had a reservation for three months and it is UHaul’s responsibility to find a truck for me, in the town where I wanted it, she told me my reservation made no difference and that UHaul did not have any intention of filling my reservation when they had agreed to do so. If there is no truck available, you just have to wait until somebody happens to move into town. There are a lot of other people with reservations but no trucks, she said, as if that would make me feel better.
