A few years ago, I was moving from a small town in Illinois, down to a big city in Tennessee. I’d always used U-Haul, so I reserved their smallest truck, understanding that I could tow my car behind it. I reserved the truck one, maybe two weeks in advance.
The day before I was supposed to get the truck, the company I’d reserved it from called me, stating that he couldn’t get through on the phone, and therefore hadn’t reserved my truck. He gave me the phone number. This was on the verge of Memorial Day weekend. I called the number and got through easily. I told the person what the guy I’d reserved it through had told me, and asked about the availability of what I needed. There were none available. I spent the majority of the weekend waiting by the phone, waiting for the first available truck.
The first available truck was way too big, but I prepared to drive 20 miles just to pick it up, when a smaller truck came available 50 miles away. Since you pay by the size, I went the 50 miles just to get the truck so I could move.
