I had a terrible experiece with Uhaul last weekend in Chicago.
I made a reservation through the 1-800 national number on thursday and made a reservation for sunday. they told me that the local office should call me back by 5pm the next day to confirm the reservation. needless to say, there was no phone call from uhaul the next day. I called the local office number at around 6pm that day and was on hold listening to their advertisement for over 30 minutes before finally giving up. I called the 1-800 number on saturday to complain about the situation and they told me that I would receive a call by 9:30am sunday morning. by this time, I was worried that I would not be able to move out on sunday as scheduled… the next day when there was no phone call I went around each local office asking if there were any trucks available and found no luck. finally, at around 1pm they called and said that I had a reservation for 3pm.
if they didn’t have something available at the requested time they should at least return the calls and tell us earlier so we can plan ahead… why do we even have to pay a $5 commitment fee that comes with a $50 penalty fee if they can’t provide us with the service that we need? I hate this company, and I hate being put on hold again and again by them.
