I used U-haul for my move from CA to NJ in the summer of 2001. My fiance took a week off from work to help me move so time was of essence. The reservations were made 3 months in advance and I called several times to make sure the truck would be ready. My last call was 1 week prior and supposedly, all was in order. Well, guess what? NO TRUCK!

Luckily, we got it the next day but the car tow I also rented MIGHT have a minor problem, we were told. The U-Haul employee asked if we still wanted it. What kind of question was that? We were about to drive from CA to NJ and the car tow didn’t look right. That question shouldn’t have been asked at all! Well, after all the commotion, frustration, and incompetencies, I finally got all my rentals by the afternoon. Now we were delayed a total of 2 days because after loading up the truck, it was already evening.

Again, we were lucky we had no problems with the truck during our drive. We were relieved to have arrived without any additional problems. We decided to let the truck rest one night before unloading it the next day. So we parked it out of the way in consideration for the other apartment dwellers. Well, the truck was dead the next morning! We had to call for service. We were delayed again!

To top everything off, when we returned the truck at a drop-off location close to us, I realized I was OVER-CHARGED! I was not given my quoted rental fee for making my reservations early (in Spring). I was charged their summer rate, the time of my move. The employee at the return office said we had to call the billing department to correct it. GUESS WHAT! To this day, I never got my reimbursement back and it’s not worth to ignite that anger again. I will never, ever use U-Haul again!
