I chose U-Haul because most “u-pack” services didn’t go to the area I was moving, full-service had trouble accommodating my short time-frame, and neither of the other major rental companies (penske and budget) had a drop off location within 100 miles of my destination.

I picked up a 14-foot truck from Jackson’s in St. James, MO. The truck had low mileage (less than 11k) and was in excellent condition and had been inspected at Jackson’s. I was told to be sure I refilled the gas and swept out the cargo area to avoid extra fees. They were very friendly and helpful at Jackson’s.

I dropped the truck off at Dave’s BP in Hancock, MI. There were no extra charges or fees and the drop off procedure went quickly and smoothly. The whole process took less than 20 minutes.

Overall I had a positive and trouble free experience.

Since I controlled the I was able to ensure that everything was well packed - which paid off (nothing broken or damaged at all). The fees were less than half of a u-pack and about a quarter of a full service , and the schedule was much better than either a full service or a u-pack service could meet.
