U R On Your Own U Haul
I rented a 24 foot truck from evanston Illinois to drive to California and was told it was in great running condition and that it was a 2000 model (turns out it was a 94). The back left blinker did not work nor did the brake light so I took it back and they fixed it. It went out again half way into the trip. The suspension on the truck was so poor I felt as though I was riding a wild bull (which caused continual shaking in the front end! The headlights flickered all through the trip as well. On thanksgiving day I was on my way through Nevada and the “Charge light” followed by a burning smell as my elctrical power began to dissapear. Luckily I made it into Reno where I called U-Haul and asked for help. They sent a tow service and towed my truck and everything I owned to a yard (which caused damage to my furniture) and I stayed in a hotel on Thanksgiving. The next day it was “fixed” and I took off over the Sierra into California but broke down again only to find the alternator that was replaced was not connected properly. I called U-Haul and they gave me the same broken record excuses and we got it running again. I made my destination with maximum stress and very little confidence in the truck or the Company!I called customer service and asked for a refund and just got the same idiotic run around they pride themselves in. They are the worst and they are proud of it. If you value your belongings and your body stay out of the trucks they rent. They are dangerous and unreliable. No one has answers when you call they just blow you off. I am currently trying to get in touch with the President of U-Haul but apparently he does not have voicemail and his assistants are on “vacation”. The U-Haul ship is sinking!!!!
