I rented a one way u-haul ($900+) with a auto transport ($309.99) (that’s the trailer that your car is towed off of the ground) from Maryland to Florida. One hour into the ride we stopped for breakfast and the trailer’s u-bolt that holds the suspension up, broke. The first call to U-haul emergency service went out at exactly 8:30am. I was told I had to wait for a call back from them, and that if I did not hear from them within 30 minutes then I call them back. So… About 20 to 30 calls later (not once did I get the same employee, so I had to explain my situation EVERY time) and several calls to main offices, managers and higher-ups in the company, we finally got back on the road at 2:00pm. Thats 5 and a half hours of being stranded to get a new auto transport that was only 20 minutes away the entire time (the driver who bought it siad he was just sitting around waiting for calls!). After I safely arrived to my new home in Florida, I started making calls to get a refund of some sort. Three hours on the phone and talking to 8 to 10 DIFFERENT people (including transfers from Florida to Arizona then to Maryland) I finally got someone to agree to half of the price of the auto transport which came to $150.00. So… 5 1/2 hours stranded, 3 hours on the phone, and one heck of a cell phone bill ($249.87!!!) I only got $150.00 back. DON”T EVER USE UHAUL IF YOU NEED TO MOVE!!!
