I had rented a 14 foot U-Haul truck off of Uhaul.com on 12/23/2002. At or around 7:00pm on 12/28/2002 I was informed that U-Haul Inc. lost my initial reservation and that a new reservation was faxed to the local Tallahassee U-haul branch. At 7:39pm on 12/28/2002 I was informed from a man named Vince that I would be receiving a 24 foot truck and that rope could be negotiated to correct the error U-Haul had made. At 9:45am on 12/29/2002 I arrived at the Tallahassee U-haul branch to pick up my 24 foot U-haul truck. I was informed by the Manager, herein known as Patrick, that the 24 foot truck was not available and that I would be receiving the 26 foot truck. As compensation I requested that rope be ‘thrown in’ with my package where Patrick told me verbatim “I am not throwing anything in, you can purchase the rope”. I then proceeded to start to say that Vince told me it would be negotiable and Patrick told me again in a very rude manner “I won’t throw anything in”. I asked next “Vince said last night I was guarunteed a 24 foot truck”. Before I could finish my sentance Patrick once again shouted “If you don’t like the truck, there is the door.” After which I had already determined I would not do business with Patrick and U-haul ever again. I commented that he was engaging in horrible business practices and that no manager should come in to the work place in unprofessional clothing without a nametag or corporate logo apparel. He flicked my drivers lic. and credit card back to me and told me that he would not rent to me and cancelled my reservation. This “manager” violated acts of discrimination, business practices, business ethics, and corporate policy. I will not rest until Patrick is removed from his current status as Manager or employee of the U-Haul Corporation. I am happy to say within 30 minutes from arguing with Patrick I was happily packing my Ryder Moving Truck. Ryder/Budget trucks offer far superior moving vans than that of Uhaul.
