I placed an order on March 20, 2005. The reservation was for May 16, 2005. I “reserved” 4 doz. furniture pads and the largest truck.
Two days before the move, the three local stores in my town had not heard of me (this is common practice, according to the local stores). Concerned, I secured the reservation myself by calling Regional (took 45 minutes for someone to answer the phone) who sent a confirmation email to one of the local stores in the town.
I confirmed the email with the local vendor, who secured my reservation.
On the morning of (only 2 days later), Regional sent a memo to this vendor to transfer my “reservation” to a city 3 hours’ drive away! The local vendor gave my truck to someone else since it was now “available,” and sent me to the next city. Never mind there are nearly 14 vendors in cities along the way. Re-read what I just wrote to fully take it in, as that is an absolutely inexcusable way to do business.
We received a truck two sizes smaller, and no furniture pads; and literally no other options if we wanted to move that day. I had movers hired, and cleaning hired. Our move was delayed by 7 hours because of the driving required! If we dared to cancel, there was a hefty cancellation fee.
DO NOT deal with this company. I am reminded of the Seinfeld “reservation” skit– anyone can take a reservation - the most important part is the “holding” of the reservation!
