Our story is pretty short, and unlike a lot of the Epinions Reviews I’ve read, more-or-less non-venomous. We got Evicted. Needed a truck. Who ya gonna call?

Of course, all the other usual suspects were either out of trucks, out to lunch or just plain nasty. This left Uhaul to be our parachute, which suited me just fine on my fixed Telephone Sanitizer’s income. My wife called the local Uhaul and spoke with a most non-confrontational service rep, who informed us that for the comparitively low base rate of $19.95 (plus KM at .49 per) we could take their automotive equivalent of an empty airplane hanger out for a joyride for an Entire 24 Hours!!! this ran in screaming contradiction to what a certain representative of “Budget” told us about Uhaul (that Uhaul, like Budget, Ryder and the rest could NOT rent out equipment for more than SIX hours?!? caveat emptor…). We booked their Box Beast for the next day (also not a problem for the tiny centre), picked it up and drove to our soon-to-be-Ex property, only to discover that the key provided for the padlock on the back didn’t work. (yes, we jiggled it.) Unable to access the back of the truck, we called the centre, and they promptly sent someone over to hack the little brass bugger off and get us on our way. This came as no small relief to both us And my litigious Landlord, who by this point was parked on a folding chair on the front lawn, eating Frito’s and occaisionally checking his stopwatch. Our grunts of effort and strain hopefully didn’t drown out his shouts of “ten minutes to NOON!!! i’m calling the Cops!!” Thankfully, our last bean bag chair was thrown in just in time to save him having to remember how to dial 911. Upon return, the Uhaul rep offered us Fresh Coffee and Perspective, and also did a rather spiffy shine-job on the workboots i had on. Long story short, that rep is now carrying my love-child. Long Live U-Haul!!!
