U HAUL not there when you need them U Haul

Dangerous truck condition: After hearing a strange noise from the undercarriage of a rented 24′ truck, called emergency service and was sent a repair truck that could find nothing wrong, but said it was all right to drive it to their shop the next morning to check it out. Drove slowly 20 miles to their shop where it was inspected with nothing found wrong. They then took it on a test drive with me as a passenger to point out the noise. In less than 1 mile we found the source: The front right wheel fell off onto the road, spilling axle parts and ball bearings into the ditch and lowering itself down onto the pavement with a bang. We were not going fast at this time so no one was hurt. If it had happened on the highway, I may not have been here to write about it.

After two days of repair, missing our allotted arrival time and staying in a motel for two days we have been totally unsuccessful in contacting UHaul to ask about our charges and possible re-imbursement for out motel out-of-pocket expenses.

This was a rental that costs us $6,281.89 UHaul’s bill, not including gas or hotel costs. Evidentially not enough to get them to answer their telephone or contact us via email.

Since our return over once month ago, we have been on hold to UHaul, disconnected, or just ignored over 6 hours of telephone time.

To this date no one has contacted us as promised and we are unable to contact anyone that can help. Our last call to 1-800-789-3638 customer service ended with the operator stating we need to talk to someone higher up, she then transferred our call to a voice message that said “UHaul Reservations, Please Hold”

I rate them a zero in customer service and very, very low in performance. (I have no idea how to rate a product that could have killed me, and then doesn’t want to talk to me about it.)
