I recently rented a $19.95 a day small truck.
Agreed to the $1.39 a mile charge, and was told that If I kept the truck 1 minute past the 2:00PM 1-day (24hr) time i would be charged another day rental.- so I opted to keep it for 2 days.
At 7:00 PM the next day, the manager leaves this message:
“Mr H you were not here by 3:00PM today so I am going to levy a $250.00 fine against you and if the truck is not back here by 7:00 AM in the morning, I will call the POLICE AND REPORT IT STOLEN!”
I went back the next day and the counter person admitted the mistake, BUT, after I left the office,
U-HAUL CHARGED ME $1000.00 AS A DEPOSIT.
AND WONT REFUND THE MONEY FOR 10 - 14 DAYS.
Then they charged me $190.00 for the actual rental also!
