You know, never before have we had such a hard time with renting a truck from U-Haul, but after today, we will never use them again!
We reserved a 17 foot truck on Monday to be used on Saturday the 22nd! Well guess what! 9:00 A.M. this morning they call and say that the truck we had reserved for today isn’t going to be back until tomorrow! They claimed to have had another truck in another town that we could use, but we would have to go get and still have to pay for those extra miles that we put on it going to get it and bringing back! We asked them to go get if for us and that was not an option. We asked if there would be some kind of discount and they said, "Maybe!" What does that mean? Maybe? Give me a break. They claim it’s not their fault that the other renter isn’t going to be bringing the truck back on time, and that we were basically out of luck! Some customer service!
Well, we went to rent a truck from Ryder and U-Haul said that they had taken the $150.00 authorization off of our credit card and when we went to use that credit card for the deposit on the Ryder truck,of course, it was declined! OH BOY! We then called the credit card company and they said that yes indeed they did authorize $150.00, but they had also charged $150.00 on the card on Thursday the 20th. The company said that if U-Haul had credited the card back it wouldn’t take affect for 3 to 15 days! OH BOY! We then called U-Haul back and they said that even if they had a truck that our credit card was obviously over the credit limit and they couldn’t rent a truck to us because they wouldn’t be able to charge the credit card! WHATEVER!!! That was just a reason to get my husband off the phone and to get him to stop chewing their rear ends! The credit card was for the deposit and not the rental of the truck. Besides that, whatever happened to good old cash?
If you need to move, I’d recommend not even dealing with U-Haul and to go with Ryder or some other moving service company. U-Haul is bad news!
