When you need to move cheaply U Haul

Oh, sure, I’ve heard all the complaints. The trucks are uncomfortable, hard to load, hard to drive etc.

But moving is by its very nature unpleasant. And my wallet always whispers to me that one day (or two) or inconvenience is worth it for their rock bottom prices.

But just remember that those rock bottom prices do not apply to their moving materials. I cannot believe how much they want you to pay to buy one of their fancy moving boxes. I went to Walmart and got hundred of nice boxes for free! And they charge a lot for little things like tape and string that you can get at any grocery store for half price.

But back to the trucks. For local I rent the smaller one and make a couple of trips. The trucks are big and hard to drive anyway, but renting one of the big things makes driving near impossible.

There don’t seem to be any shock absorbers, and when you step on the gas, it takes a long time for anything to happen. It’s also very hard to see since there is no rear view mirror, just use to side mirrors and be extra careful before changing lanes.

Addendum: I would not rent a U-Haul for a long distance move, but for local or not too far away, it’s not too bad.
