I will never rent a U-haul again! The last time we did I spent 1 hour waiting for someone to come open the door for us so we could get the truck we rented!
At the time we were moving about 30 miles away so decided to get a U-haul and make one trip. I did the right thing and reserved one for 8am on a weekday so we could get everything moved in one day. The U-haul store opened up at 7am so I figured we were safe with an 8am start time. WRONG!!! When we got there they were remodeling and the door was open for the workers. They told us the guy that did the U-haul was not there yet. So we waited, and waited and waited. After a while I started looking for a number to call to get someone into the store. About this time a guy shows up, but he is not the right one. This one can’t check out a truck to anyone and doesn’t know who to call. I called the national number and after being on hold for quite a while finally got to a person. They told me someone was on the way to help us. By this time I was very upset. You know how it is when you move, you have friends to help at certain times… they have a life and so do you. So an hour later we got the truck. Did they offer us any compensation for the time wasted??? No. We did get free mileage but only after putting our foot down. I have to say it was the worst customer service I have every had!
U-haul can be expensive. They get you for mileage so don’t believe it when they tell you $29.95 for the truck. It comes out to much much more!! If you want to haul it yourself, go for another company.
